(been stuck in my head all evening.)
But Not For Me (Gershwin/Gershwin)
They're writing songs of love - but not for me A lucky star's above - but not for me With love to lead the way I've found more clouds of gray Than any Russian play - can guarantee
I was a fool to fall - and get this way Ah ho alas and awe - so lackaday Although I can't dismiss The memory of her kiss I guess she's not - she's not for me
Old man sunshine - listen you Never tell me dreams come true Just try it - and all start a riot Beatrice Fairfax don't you dare Ever tell me she will care I'm certain - it's the final curtain
I never want to here from any cheerful Polly-Anna's Who tell you fate supplies a mate - it's all bananas
It all began so well - but what an end This is the time - a fellow needs a friend When every happy plot Ends with a marriage knot And there's no knot, no (k)not for me Current Music: "Flying Home" by Ella Fitzgerald

...do you know where your plans are?
Yeah. Likely frolicking about in the sewers after being flushed down the Loo.
I spent the day doing yardwork with Dad as opposed to having lunch with friends. Now it's 7:30 and I'm about to eat dinner with my parents. Afterwards I plan on proceeding with my boooooring evening.

Wow, It's so beautiful outside today! The temperature is cooler than it has been (not much, but enough) and the sun is shining. I find myself wanting to go to a park or something.... you know, walk my dog, enjoy the fresh air, have an ice cream cone - Like a Made For TV Movie!! heh. But seriously. This is one of those days I wish that NOBODY had a day job, so we could all just have a picnic. Current Mood: hopelessly romantic Current Music: "Back To You" by John Mayer

As Cool As I Am
Yeah, there was a time I didn't like the love, I liked the climbers, I was no sister then, I was running out of time and one liners, And I was afraid, like you are when you're too young to know the time, and So I watched the way you take your fear and hoard the horizon, You point, you have a word for every woman you can lay your eyes on, Like you own them just because you bought the time, And you turn to me, you say you hope I'm not threatened,
Oh, I'm not that petty As cool as I am, I thought you'd know this already, I will not be afraid of women, I will not be afraid of women.
So now we're at a club, you watch the woman dancing, she is drunk, She is smiling and she's falling in a slow descending funk, And the whole bar is loud and proud and everybody's trying, yeah. You play the artist, saying, "Is it how she moves, or how she looks?" I say it's loneliness suspended to our own like grappling hooks, And as long as she's got noise, shes fine. But I could teach her how I learned to dance when the music's ended.
Oh, and that's not petty As cool as I am, I thought you'd know this already, I will not be afraid of women, I will not be afraid of women.
You tried to make me doubt, to make me guess, tried to make me feel like a little less, Oh, I liked you when your soul was bared, I thought you knew how to be scared, And now it's amazing what you did to make me stay, But truth is just like time, it catches up and it just keeps going,
And so I'm leaving, you can find out how much better things can get, And if it helps, I'd say I feel a little worse than I did when we met, So when you find someone else, you can try again, it might work next time, You look out of the kitchen window and you shake your head and say low, "If I could believe that stuff, I'd say that woman has a halo," And I look out and say, "Yeah, shes really blond," And then I go outside and join the others, I am the others,
Oh, and that's not easy I don't know what you saw, I want somebody who sees me, I will not be afraid of women, I will not be afraid of women. Current Mood: productive Current Music: "As Cool as I Am" by Dar Williams
